Local Photographer Nancy Horton Comes to RiverRun Bookstore on Wednesday, June 6, for a discussion & signing of her Portsmouth Photography Book.
Photographer Nancy Horton has captured the beauty and the funky, gritty liveliness of today’s Portsmouth, NH. It is all here, from the salt piles by along the river to the Naval Shipyard. Daily life circulates historic Market Square; costumed re-enactors delight at Strawberry Banke; an impressive array of Georgian homes stand tall on residential streets. Horton even offers a beautiful photo of Portsmouth’s beloved poet Robert Dunn alongside one of his poems. Laura Pope provides a short history of the city to accompany Horton’s images.
Award-winning photographer, Nancy Horton’s work has appeared in “The New York Times,” “The Boston Globe,” “Yankee,” “Rolling Stone,” and in various photography books. Educated at Merrimack College and Endicott College in Massachusetts, Horton teaches photography at the Maine College of Art and Hartwood College. She has had photography exhibitions at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, Button Factory Open Studios, and the Kittery Art Association, among others. She lives in Portsmouth, N.H.
