“To provide people of all ages, abilities, and economic status with the opportunity to achieve their full creative potential through quality arts and music instruction, ensemble participation, and performance opportunities.” – The Portsmouth Music and Arts Center Mission
Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC) is located at 75 Albany Street, in Portsmouth and is a nonprofit community music and art school. There is a place for everyone at PMAC – they welcome your involvement as a student, parent, volunteer, or member. Through music and art, PMAC helps students meet and accomplish essential life goals.
Rattlesnake shake is a Portsmouth band that has been around since 2002. That year, and each year since they have rehearsed for and performed at their Annual BYOI (Bring Your Own Instrument) Party to raise funds for young people to start making music. In 2006, they decided to make music all year long, and Rattlesnake Shake was born.
The playlist of Rattlesnake Shake includes songs from the past and present, some familiar and some quite obscure. With the varied musical influences of each of its members, an evening with Rattlesnake Shake might include some Bonnie Raitt, Red Hot Chili Peppers, KC & the Sunshine Band, The Sex Pistols, and toss in some Nancy Sinatra for good measure.
Rattlesnake Shake is in it for the fun of it. And it shows! So come out, have fun, and support local music and your local music and arts center!
